An Unwelcome Housewarming Gift

We moved into a new home! Yeah! But along with that came an unwelcome housewarming gift…ants! The house we moved into was built in an old horse pasture and had sat empty for about 18 months. So the ants took it upon themselves to move in. We have a pest control company that we use and they have been out several times. The last time, they sent the “ant expert”. I didn’t know such a thing existed. He said our entire yard was one big ant colony. That’s good news! And that they had more than likely moved into our vinyl siding. Isn’t that exciting! Not only do we have a beautiful new house, we have millions of pets!

To add to the news, these ants can get anywhere in the house. Most times unnoticed…for a little while. Like the time I didn’t notice they had taken over my 2 year olds bed! So the first time he came to my bed during the night and climbed in, I carried him right back to his bed. The second time he came to my bed, I was too exhausted and just let him stay. I still didn’t notice the next morning and the cluelessness continued when it was his nap time. I like to rock him to sleep still and I noticed he had a couple ant bites on him. I couldn’t think of where he might have gotten them from. After he had fallen asleep in my arms, I asked my 7 year old to check his bed and make sure his pillow and blanket were ready for me to lay him down. That’s when the ants finally became noticed! My sweet little 7 year old squealed and came running telling me his bed was covered in ants, especially his pillow! This was only the beginning. Since then, the ants have moved into the kid’s bathroom, visited the kitchen, taken a bath in my garden tub and played with the toys in the toy room. The final straw came 2 nights ago. They decided to have a slumber party with my 7 year old! She woke up with bites on her eye lids, which had swollen up to the size of golf balls, and all down her back!

I have had enough. This gift must be returned! I will not lose my home or my children to ants!
